As an advisor for this project, for me, charity is a very personal thing. What and how someone gives, and to what they give isn’t always served best by a collective. There are so many things that can come into play… ethnics, geographic location, religion, political ideology, personal experience, etc. The influences are basically infinite. Also, with many organizations, so much of the money doesn’t even get to the cause it was intended for. I have a friend who researched this deeply, and I think if the numbers were exposed, many would be shocked, or at least disappointed… and maybe even outraged. Sometimes “charity” is geographic. Christmas gifts to needy kids in the US, might have little meaning to someone investing from Malaysia. Sometimes “charity” might be even be within a family or personal sphere of influence. Some people may not even be able to afford the idea of “charity”, and their monies might be best spent on things in their own lives, or the lives of their family and friends. I didn’t want “Giving to Charity X” to be a box checked, in regard to making this project appealing to people. However, I do look forward to hearing about the positive things the project may have done for people’s lives.
Personally, one of my plans is to immortalize and publicize the works that a particular author has done, that has surely impacted tens of thousands of people’s lives in the area of “inner child healing”, as a legacy project that will help impact tens of thousands, or even millions more. I can’t expect others to necessarily relate to this project, but there will be those that find great value in it. My thought for all is… Give when and where your heart leads you to give.
